RATED ART participation

Ok, so through the joys of democracy we had named our exhibition. Then jobs were designated. I got jambed with publicity... I think, within 24hrs of designating the jobs the more enthusiastic members of the class had already made progress in their own duties and the duties of others. In any case, I began by trying to find options for the wine and organising to get some posters printed. I started with getting quotes for the posters. After checking out a few places around town I was able to get 50 posters printed in gloss on A3 size for under $60. Since that was the best deal around, I said yes. Since I had to liase with the marketing team through my head teacher, the time it took to get the go ahead for the posters was quite annoying. In the meantime I started tracking down wine. First I went to the Magpies Nest who outright just gave us a dozen bottles, then I went to the CSU winery and managed to organise a certain degree of a discout but nothing amazing.

Outside of that, I had little success with the wineries. I also tried speaking to a local radio station and a TV station. The radio station were polite, but not particularly proffesional. The TV station however was very helpful, although screen time wasn't probable, they gave me a few URL's of public domain websites that I believe helped advetise the exhibition.

The posters got printed and then I began distributing them, however I then found that another student on the same afternoon had been going around putting up the smaller fliers. A minor headache, but easily fixed. I caled to meet up with the student and  began getting some of the posters swapped over.
For the most part that was my involvement until the days leading up to the exhibition. When we began set up, most of my involvement was in getting the drawings hung. We used tape measures and spirit levels to ensure all the images were placed properly. Also, once the exhibition eve approached, I bought an extra two cases of wine and organised to have a few trays of food cooked.
After the opening night I sat and whatched the space for a full day, during which I disscussed the works with some members of the public and documented the exhibtion with a friends camera.
As for the pack up, I didn't really do much at all as I was sick on the day.

Propsal for photo montage and studio shoot

Ok, first up, I intend to umbrella the idea for both of these assesments. My social comentary is going to be on the annonymity of modern day violence within the social setting. I'm going to use a freinds studio for this, primarily because he has the gear and the time to help run me through a few of the technical sides of this project that are going to be paramount to its success. Not to mention that he also has a black backdrop which is what I personally prefer to work with. I'm hoping to be able to tackle everything in the one shoot and perhaps just get some texture and scene shots for the montage. Though, give that there are some darker props, I may need to get a few shots done with a white backdrop. With the montage, I'll more than likely use the repition of figures a grimy, maybe throw in something to show a bit of innocense. Also I anticipate that I'll use some fire in both shoots, thus making it a bit of an OH&S thing for TAFE.

Photo montage

Ok, so here is the first one I like. The idea and techniques used is why I'm down with this one, Bits of city fading into obscurity and everything just generally looking a bit off.

Kinda cool, kinda cute and also pretty tricky. I'm a fan of the obscure ideas and snails drag racing goes along with that.

Cities, fire and psudeo-christian imagery are all up there on my favourite themes and athstetics to work with. Not trying to be cocky, but I think I could do a montage of this but pull it off better. There are just a few parts that look shabby to me.

A standing ovation for simple ideas mixed with inovative photoshop. Good work above image.

Radial Blurrage (using photoshop this time)

The top one is the marquee tool for some radial blurrage and the bottom is using the radial blur filter

Blurry stuff without photoshop.

Camera movement is my homeslice. Top on was done by tilting the camera, the middle was done by zooming out and the bottom was done by zooming in. All had a shutter speed of 1/10 and aperture varied as needed.

A bit more than tweaking

So this week I've been told to toy around with filter effects and scuh without using the pre-made ones. Thus I've gone a little overboard with the Brightness/contrast, levels, curves, colour filters and colour balance. Cause thats how I roll yo.

Movement project

They haven't gone through photoshop, but I think they still be cranking some coolness.

Photography, self portrait stuff. "Sydney Nights"

So, this is what happens when I take photos of my mug in Sydney. Used all the usual optimis-y stuff. Curves, contrast etc. I may get marked down for it but I also grayscaled the images and threw a yellowy-brown tint over it. The images looked drastically different chromatically and now thats fixed and the tint hints towards a more noir feeling which I also like.. So, yeah, enjoy!

Overdue Letterbox thing

Its overdue, its done and I think its easy enough to say my letterbox is a boring place to be.

Cropped Scanner Business

Heres we go, I cropped an image cause thats how I roll. First is the original image and then there are the 3 cropped "artworks" that I scored from said image.

Chained in Time

Soooo, this lot of bollux is what I've churned out for the scanner business. I had somewhat limited resources as I did it at home and away from the whatchful eyes our grandmaster wizard of the photography army. In any case, I played around a bit, sort of accidentally did double the work I was meant to and felt that gave me the right to whack up on extra image. So heres hoping I don't get marked down for it. Also, don't ask me to explain the name of this series or any other. They generally just pop into my head within a few minutes of finishing any piece of work.
